MARANTZ PMD570 IDEAL SOLUTION
FOR
UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS
— University Of Massachusetts finds the PMD570 ideal for
recording classroom lectures for students —
ITASCA, IL, April 13, 2005 — When one of
the professors at the University of Massachusetts needed a method for
recording lectures for distribution to students, it became clear that
cassettes weren’t going to cut it. Jeffrey Wade, the A/V Technical
Coordinator of the Media Service Department at the University discovered
the solution at a pro installation show: the Marantz Professional PMD570.
“I was ecstatic to hear that the Marantz PMD570 recorded and converted
directly to MP3,” says Wade. “Everything was recorded in
real time so there were no delays; I just knew the Marantz PMD570 was
the solution I needed for a quicker recording process.”
The PMD570 provides up to 50 hours of record time on a
single inexpensive Compact Flash card, giving Wade the ability to record
a single lecture, or a full day’s worth of lectures. He can maximize
the sound quality of the MP3 recordings using Assignable Quality Selections,
32-384 Bit Rate Selections, and 16-48 kHz Sample Rate Selections.
The single rackspace PMD570 has no moving parts, features
security for its media door, and through its RS-232c controller, allows
Wade to setup and control multiple PMD570s from one PC. “I was
always a big fan of Marantz Professional products, but now I am blown
away at how advanced they are with technology.”
Wade was particularly impressed with the recorder’s
user friendliness. “When I got the Marantz PMD570 to the University
I was astonished at how easy it was to set up. The owner’s manual
was clear and easy to follow; within five minutes I had the recorder
up and running,” describes Wade. “And when I did have a
question, a Marantz representative assisted in a warm and friendly manner.”
The students at the University of Massachusetts are equally
thrilled with the PMD570. Because of the implementation of the PMD570,
they’re now able to quickly access, through a convenient website,
high-quality MP3 recordings of lectures.
Eventually Wade plans to purchase more Marantz Professional
products for Media Services and his own personal use. “I was so
impressed with the functionality of the Marantz PMD570 that I recommended
it to all of my colleagues and friends,” affirms Wade.
