GENELEC SETS THE BENCHMARK WITH THE
AIW26 ACTIVE IN-WALL SPEAKER SYSTEM
— The leader in the design and manufacturing of active speakers
for over 25 years
exhibits the AIW26 Active In-Wall Speaker System,
an easy-to-install, self-contained package with superior sonic capabilities
—
CEDIA EXPO, INDIANAPOLIS, IN, September 10, 2004 — Genelec,
Inc., exclusive U.S. distributor of Genelec Home Theater Sound Systems,
is showing the AIW26 Active In-Wall Speaker System. Designed as a direct
result of input from installers, project engineers, and end-users, the
AIW26 is a self-contained, active speaker that is easy to install, delivers
accurate sound, and has the ability to handle extremely high SPLs with
a wide dynamic range. The AIW26 can be used to augment a conventional
speaker system, or as part of a complete Genelec in-wall system in either
multi-channel surround or a stereo configuration. The AIW26 offers installers
a high quality, active in-wall alternative when a freestanding speaker
system does not fit a room’s décor.
The AIW26 Active In-Wall Speaker System is a bi-amplified
speaker that features a 7" low distortion bass driver in a reflex
cabinet with a 3/4" metal dome tweeter loaded with Genelec’s
proprietary Directivity Control Waveguide Technology (DCW™) and
a matched remote amplifier module, the RAM1. The DCW provides an extremely
stable and precise soundstage throughout the listening area. This improved
directivity control results in more direct (and less reflected) sound
reaching the listener, which produces a more realistic and stable image.
In addition, the supplied RAM1 amplifier is designed to be a perfect
match with the AIW26 speaker. As with all Genelec products, the RAM1
includes a series of Room Response Controls to fine tune the speaker’s
performance to any given environment.
The Genelec AIW26 Active In-Wall Speaker System features
a compact design (18-1/8" H x 13" W x 4" D) and includes
an integrated electronic crossover, the RAM1 amplifier (120 Watts for
bass and 120 Watts for treble), room response equalizers, RCA and XLR
line level input connectors, 12-volt trigger, and adjustable input sensitivity
for interface to all types of decoders. The AIW26 has a frequency response
of 45 Hz – 21 kHz ± 2.5 dB and can achieve extremely high
SPL’s — 110 dB @ 1 meter. The RAM1 amplifier module measures
12-3/8" H x 5-1/2" W x 4-1/4" D. Up to three units can
be mounted in a 19" equipment rack (with optional 3U high rack
adapter) or placed on a shelf or in a cabinet. Wiring between the RAM1
amplifier can be standard 14 or 12 gauge 4-conductor wire.
Easy to mount in walls or ceilings, the Genelec AIW26
can be installed to either existing or new construction within a standard
2" x 4" structure. The AIW26 reflex cabinet actually reinforces
the drywall and provides excellent isolation from the wall structure.
In addition, a separate grille and mounting frame for the AIW26 can
be painted to match the wall color.

Genelec, the pioneer in Active Monitoring technology, is celebrating
over 25 years of designing and manufacturing active loudspeakers for
true and accurate sound reproduction. Genelec is credited with promoting
the concept of active transducer technology, which many manufacturers
are just now incorporating into their products. Since its inception
in 1978, Genelec has concentrated its efforts and resources into creating
active monitors with unparalleled sonic integrity. The result is an
active Home Theater speaker system that has earned global acclaim for
its accurate imaging, extremely high acoustic output from a very small
enclosure, and true high-fidelity with low distortion and deep, rich
bass.
