SPEAK THE WORD CHURCH INTERNATIONAL CHOOSES
MC2 AMPLIFIERS AND XTA DP428 SPEAKER CONTROLLER

— Globally renowned house of worship installs a line array PA system, utilizing MC2’s highly advanced amplification and XTA control technologies to maximize the sonic upgrade —

119th AES CONVENTION, NEW YORK, NY, October 7, 2005 — Speak The Word Church International, which since its founding in 1977 under Pastor Randy Morrison’s leadership has grown into one of the largest multi-racial churches in the North Central U.S., has made a significant upgrade to the sound of its 2,500-seat sanctuary in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Six MC2 E45 amplifiers and an MC2 E25 power a new line array sound system with speaker operation maximized by an XTA DP428 Audio Management System. The new system also includes 18 EAW KF730 speaker cabinets and a Yamaha PM-1D mixing console. The system was designed and installed by American Pro Audio, of Minneapolis, a leading pro audio dealer and systems installer in the region, and the system components were supplied through Bormann Marketing.

“The church had a basic cluster system PA previously and they very much wanted to take their sound to the highest level possible,” remarks Dick McCalley, Owner of American Pro Audio. “They wanted to move up to a concert-level system because music is such an important part of their service. Every component of the system had to be top-notch, so we did a demo of the MC2 amplifiers and they blew away everything else. The XTA DP428 controller was just as impressive.”

Another reason to improve the church is the continued popularity of Pastor Morrison’s acclaimed television show, A Common Sense Approach, which is broadcast globally. “It was easy to recognize how much better the system sounded and performed with the MC2 amplifiers,” continues McCalley. “They have an incredibly smooth frequency response from top to bottom, and they handle today’s music transients much better than anything out there.” The amplifiers and crossovers are located in a separate, air-cooled enclosure near the stage, underscoring another MC2 advantage: “With MC2, you pretty much install and let it do its stuff,” he says. “They’re extremely reliable, extremely high-power and extremely maintenance-free. A great choice all around.”

The MC2 E45 is a lightweight, switchmode amplifier designed to the same high standards of reliability and sound quality that users have come to expect of all MC2 Audio products. The new sophisticated MC2 “intelligent” limiter keeps performance within safe operating limits. Features include low distortion limiters with adjustable threshold points for extra speaker protection and Power Reduction Circuit (PRC) controls on rear panel, linked to the limiter threshold, allowing each channel to be independently set so different loudspeakers can be connected to each channel with safety.

The XTA DP428 offers a wide range of features, including delays, limiters, variable-state 31-band graphic EQ, highly intuitive menu system with shortcut keys, and excellent sound.
