XTA WALKABOUT WIRELESS CONTROL KIT
MAKES SYSTEM SETUP EVEN EASIER
119th AES CONVENTION, NEW YORK, NY, October 7, 2005 — XTA Electronics, a leader in sound reinforcement, digital signal processing and speaker controller systems for the past 12 years, is exhibiting the Walkabout Kit, a complete wireless solution that provides control over XTA’s DP Series of loudspeaker and dynamics products via a WiFi Ethernet link.The Walkabout Kit is the result of extensive research by XTA into the most reliable, straightforward method for interfacing with the company’s DP226, DP224, DP6i and SiDD. According to Jack Kelly, President of Group One Ltd., “With thousands of XTA speaker management systems in use, there was a real demand for a fast and convenient solution to getting a great sound. The Walkabout Kit provides an easy way to get the most from an XTA system, and wireless means that users aren’t tied down by cables — they’re free to work from wherever they need to be, up to 300' away.”
The Walkabout Kit features a powerful NetGear WiFi Card for greatly extended range and improved stability over WLAN systems built into laptop or notepad PCs. This is combined with a Wiser WLAN to Serial converter, which is programmed at XTA to maximize its speed when working with AudioCore, a new version of XTA’s popular computer interface that works with TCP/IP.
New firmware has been developed by XTA for the DP226, DP224, DP6i and SiDD, so reprogramming the Wiser basic configuration settings is fast and easy. For even faster setup, users can access factory presets and be up and running in minutes. An included PC utility provides comprehensive setup access, should a user need to move beyond the default settings for any reason.
